Why Mu Koh Hong is special ?

Mu Koh Hong, or “Room Island” is a composition of 12 islets that vertically stretching from the North to the South of Krabi sea. All these islands offer fine beaches and coral reefs. Popular activities include snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, sea-canoeing and nature studies on the 400-metre hiking trail around Koh Hong.

Mu Koh Hong is located at the edge of the Than Bok Khorani National Park, and is accessible by a one-hour boat trip from Ao Nang.

  • You have to pay a National Park entry fee (200 baht) on island. There's an additional fee of 20 baht per person for camping on the island.

  • If you want to go, have your hotel book you a private long boat (speed boat is unnecessarily expensive). And pack a lunch and your snorkel gear.

  • It's much better if you can go early morning to avoid the crowd.

I did a kayak trip into the caves and around the cliffs. It was the highlight of my tour! Saw plenty of tiny fish and even some impressive crabs. Put this one on your bucket list.

This was a lovely place to explore a little of the tropical island and relax on the beach under a tree. Yes, there are tourist, but it was't too bad. Nice snorkeling. There is a beautiful lagoon on the other side of the island, accessible by boat. If you want to go, have your hotel book you a private long boat (speed boat is unnecessarily expensive). Pack a lunch and your snorkel gear.
