Why Mr. Shi's Dumplings is special ?

Mr. Shi's Dumplings has some of the tastiest dumplings around. The traditional jiaozi, which are boiled, come with a variety of fillings: Pork, shrimp, and vegetarian options are mainstays. If you prefer the fried potstickers, known as guotie, the version here is delicious and a bit different than most, since they are not completely enclosed. The servings are large: Each order comes with 15 dumplings, so make sure you're hungry. The rest of the simple menu focuses on well-done basics like fried rice and stir-fried vegetables. The décor is a testament to the place's appeal among foreign visitors, with walls covered in international flags, colorful drawings, and appreciative comments by customers from around the world. The servers speak some English, unusual for such a local spot.

The ultimate & expensive place for tourists. If you want to eat like a true expat in Beijing, try Xian Lao Man馅老满, that's where authentic beijingers have their dumplings!

Just had our first Beijing meal at Mr Shi's and the dumplings were delicious - even more so when washed down with the local beer. This is casual & easy eating - not fine dining. Service was fine - I didn't speak any mandarin and she didn't speak English but the menu is in English so all good. The location is great - just across the road from our hotel and in the cute hutong area which is definitely worth a visit.Delicious dumplings at a very reasonable price. Just be ready for a room full of tourists - a dining spot for locals it didn't appear to be..

The dumplings are delicious with many combinations of fillings. Top off your meal with a chocolate and fruit filled fried dumpling. Caters to Westerners and Mr. Shi is right there to make your meal a memorable experience.
