Why Merlion Park is special ?

Merlion Park of Singapore is a beautiful park installed with the unique Merlion structure. This statue of a creature that is half-mermaid (or fish) and half-lion attracts a number of tourists and has become a landmark of Singapore. With the head of a lion and fish-like body, the fountain-statue appeals to the onlookers. It looks amazing especially in the glowing lights turned on at night.

The Merlion is located adjacent to the famous hotel One Fullerton. Measuring 8.6 metres high and weighing 70 tonnes, the Merlion statue was built from cement fondue by the late Singapore craftsman, Mr Lim Nang Seng.

There are a total of 5 Merlions in Singapore. 2 of them located here. The other 3 of them are located at Mount Faber, Sentosa and Tourism Court.

No Singapore is complete without that photo in front of the Merlion Statue (Singapore’s icon) at the Merlion Park. Go up the viewing deck to get the best angles. Adjacent to the One Fullerton.

You can't visit Singapore without visiting The Merlion! Lots of people, naturally, but not too hard to snap a nice picture if you're lucky enough to be there with considerate people.

A Singaporean icon, the Merlion statue of a lion's head and fish body welcomes visitors to Quays of this former British colony city-state. Open 24/7 with free admission of a fully functional fountain. It resonates a beautiful backdrop for photos day or night. Note: Visitors must bring a camera and sun screen. Along Merlion Park inhabits cafes and bars amid a tourist trap but well worth the visit. My August 2010 five day visit brought me to Merlion Park as my first impression of this city-state. Sweet! It is surely a must see. What Merlion Park is to Singapore equates to what the Statute of Liberty is to New York.
