Why Matsuya Department Store is special ?
Matsuya Department Store (Matsuya Hyakkaten) has been a Ginza presence since 1925 and is now housed in a modern white structure covered in LEDs. Its 7 above-ground floors are mainly devoted to clothing, mostly women's. Being in a new building, it is Ginza's best department store in terms of spaciousness and navigability. Its two underground food floors - fresh food on B2 - are as well stocked as any Japanese department store, but somewhat cramped and generally unremarkable. For foreign shoppers there is a tax refund counter and overseas shipping service on 3F. There is art on 7F/8F and restaurants on 8F.
From luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prada and Miu Miu to Japan's top products and traditional handicrafts, the full range of the finest goods in available at the store alone. The store is also conveniently located for quick access to popular destinations such as Akihabara, Odaiba and Maihama.

Tips for you
Seriously worth a trip for the sweets & prepared foods floor on B1 (same floor as the subway exit from Ginza station). Try the different amazake flavors from Furumachi Koji Seijojo.
I love this store - each floor is filled with the most beautiful items, whether it be a delicate tea pot or a woman's silk cape. I could spend all day here taking one hour on each floor and beaming down to the basement floors for a quick lunch or snack and then resuming the hunt for that one-of-a-kind item. I happened to find that item this trip - in the home decor section. It was a beautifully designed flat piece, made out of highly pliable tin, that can be re-structured into a lovely wine bottle holder. The piece comes with directions as to how to do this but after a couple of tries, I think I got it down. We've had a lot of fun showing it off to house guests.
