Why Mangrove Forest Paddleboat Tour is special ?

The Mangrove Forest breaks the waves before it reaches the land. It also serves as a blocker for the strong winds during a storm. In fact, the tour still operates during a storm but not during a very strong typhoon. It also serves as a filter from the bad elements of the land such as insecticide and other chemicals and trash. This protects the corals from being covered by the debris and blocking sunlight to reach the corals.

The Mangrove Paddle Boat Tour is a community based sustainable ecotourism project. It offers an educational tour by boat through Sabang’s mangrove forests. The 45 minute tour into the Sabang River and its centuries old mangroves allows visitor to observe and appreciate what old growth mangrove forest free of human entervention looks like. Visitors are also given a chance to contribute to conservation by planting mangrove saplings in designated planting area.

What to explore at Mangrove Forest Paddleboat Tour?

Along the way, they will point out which of the trees are males and females, and if you're lucky, you will see a lot of animal life, even a snake sleeping on a branch above you as you paddle by the river. The volunteers will also tell you about the history of the organization, why they're doing it, and the importance of the mangroves in the ecosystem. At the end of the tour, one of the volunteers will sing the magrove song. Listen well, for it's really very melancholy. Afterwards, you will also be asked to plant a seedling.
