Why Mangoes is special ?

Insider’s hideaway, Mangoes is one of the favourite spots of Langkawi’s expat community! Surrounded by a tropical garden with mango trees and blossoming bushes, with a direct view of the Andaman Sea, the location is just beautiful! Run by a couple from Australia and Germany, Mangoes serves genuine western dishes from rib eye steak, through Aussie burger to bratwurst sausage. Those looking for a light meal will be delighted by the variety of salads on the menu. However, trying to stick to a diet may prove difficult with Michelle’s delicious chocolate mud cake or the hearty apple strudel. Legendary is the Sunday brunch with Champagne and Eggs Benedict! There is barely any table turnover. Guests arriving at 11am are likely to be engaged in a lively conversation long into the afternoon. And that pretty much says it all! If one doesn’t get up from the chair even after the third ‘see you next Sunday’, there must be something special about this place!

Some must-try dishes:

Pumpkin and ginger soup

Lamb shank and cutlet

Mangoes madness cocktails

A small gem of a bar/restaurant overlooking the bay which proved that regardless of fine dinning, sometimes liver bacon and mash is what you need. The portions are great, the service, whilst laid back works well and the drinks keep on flowing. We had an afternoon session with friends including dinner and 6 hours of drinks with a bill that came to RM250 for a couple.... value for money at its finest. Will be back for another chill out session. Note: If you require Michelin Stars and formality, go elsewhere. You want a very relaxed atmosphere, library with an eclectic range of books and home cooking - come on down, as they say on the game shows.
