Tips for you
A quick read of past reviews brings a happy tear to my eye. You will quickly see when you visit MacauSoul that it is the product of passion and love, and the fact that it's a business really is an afterthought. Jackie and her husband (whom sadly we didn't meet this time) have created a beautifully artistic and passionate, yet extremely casual, intimate and friendly wine bar in such unsuspecting of places. The wine and port selection is exquisite, the food sensational, and perhaps best of all the ambience and service so very down to earth and friendly. What a far cry from the all the corporate enterprises of Macau. And forget about Hong Kong - sadly a place like this by definition could never exist in HK. I almost feel bad publicly reviewing what an awesome find this place is. But when I saw Ritz-Carlton was the highest ranked wine bar in Macau... Well... Something is seriously wrong with TripAdvisor then! If you do nothing else in Macau - visit this fantastic place. It will rejuvenate all your lost hope for Macau. You guys have done a wonderful service to your host country.
Was attracted by the music as like jazz but found much much more. Fine wines, fine music (unfortunately not live) and fine food in a lovely relaxed and elegant setting. Possibly the highlight of our last weekend trip to Macau from Hong Kong was two visits (had to go back the next evening) to Macau Soul. First visit was for some after dinner drinks and ended up with a half-bottle of Colheita 1999 port recommended by our host. Excellent recommendation so went back before dinner the next evening and took his advice and tried a bottle of old-vine Quinta do Crasto Reserva. Superb and good value for the quality. Tried some snacks as well and next time will go for a full meal (perhaps the British cheese board as well) and some more recommendations from the superb cellar of Portuguese wines. Wonderful warm welcome and homely but chic ambience. Great complimentary nibbles particularly the marinaded olives. Take plenty of cash as credit cards were not accepted when we visited and there is a lot of oenophilic temptation!
