Tips for you
LouWaiLou is one of the most famous restaurants in Hangzhou. The food is okay, though if you want authentic Hangzhou food there are better places on Guanyin Street. You should come here for the view and for the nice walk you can take after dinner down Bai Causeway. We recommend trying the JiaoHuaJi (Beggar's Chicken), DongPo Rou (Su Dongpo's braised pork belly), and the XiHuCuYu (West Lake sweet and sour fish). Prices are a little higher than you will pay elsewhere- just remember you are paying for the premium location. The place is huge and there are hundreds of tables, so reservations are unnecessary unless its a peak weekend. Best enjoyed if you have a party of 6 or more. It is located on Gushan Island in the lake on the north side, in between Beishan Road and Bai Causeway.
Highly recommend to get a table on the terrace way before lunch hours if you have no reservation. Mid range prices but boy the poached whole fish with dark vinegar dressing is simply divine. They bring you a fresh fish with the exact weight of 500-550g to examine before they cook it. Top notch Chinese food with no MSG.
The waitress are rude... and impatience. U need to get use of this in China. However, their food really very tasty and not as salty as other restaurant... just the price for the xihu vinegar fish is very expensive... u must order the 西湖醋鱼王... if not u will non-stop eating fish bones.. and u may get irritated for the fish.
Definitely order the Beggar's Chicken. This is the dish's birthplace
