Why Longjin Tea Village is special ?

Longjing actually means, "Dragon Well", a place suitable for the planting of the famous green tea. Longjing Tea is one of China's best teas and is one reason for Hangzhou's international fame. The tea is grown in the Longjing mountain area of Hangzhou, southwest of the West Lake.

The flat and smooth tea leaves (resembling pine needles with a yellow to dark green color) brew a tea with light to dark green color, a fragrant scent, and a refreshing taste. The place is frequently visited by those who come for a taste of the Longjing tea, well noted for its greenness, fragrance, mellow taste, and beauty of tea leaves. It is located on Fenghuang Hill with a wide area of water and is rich in spring water.

Longjing Tea is on the toplist of the 10 most famous green teas in China. Now it is a place to taste tea for leisure. A trip to the village of Longjing is a drive along the verdant mountains. Tea terraces rise up on either side of the village and it's an interesting area to walk around and watch the locals at work.

What to explore at Longjin Tea Village?

Upon entering the garden, you'll find yourself at the foot of the hill into which the entire garden has been landscaped.

The outdoor space is flanked by a giant teapot and a pair of traditional-style buildings looming overhead, stone stairways crisscrossing upwards and beckoning the visitor to ascend further.

Once inside, you'll find the grounds very thoughtfully laid-out, with narrow stone paths twisting alongside creeks and under traditional wooden walkways. All of these are amidst heavily forested environs that make visitors feel as if they're wandering through somebody's private hideaway.

The origin of Longjing tea's name, the dragon well, is near the entrance. Although this is not the exact well the green tea was named after -- the tea took the name of the whole village -- the resort uses the spring water from the well to irrigate its renowned tea leaves.

This is definitely a place not to be missed. You will find greens everywhere and the place is so scenery. Walking in the park is so relaxing and we had a great time out of busy city life. The food cooked by the locals are so tasty but not every household welcome tourist. The long jing tea taste great and one can hardly find a good tea elsewhere. The only set back is that the price the locals asked for the tea is way too high from the current ones you find in the market. Beware to ask for tea prices. Once you ask, the farmers will take it as you want to buy and they will turn into sour face if you rejected them after hearing the price.
