Why Longdong Bay is special ?
Long Cave (Longdong) is the largest bay on the Northeast Coast. It is favored with clear water and abundant marine life, including large numbers of colorful tropical fish, making it an out-standing spot for snorkeling and scuba diving. Also, the schools of fish that gather here make the bay a highly popular rock-fishing area.
At the southern edge of the park, the sheer sandstone cliffs of Long Cave (Longdong) Cape have become the premier rock-climbing destination of northern Taiwan. Since the cliffs are only 30-odd meters high and have a wide variety of surface forms, they are perfect for training in rock-climbing skills. At the same time, this area offers stunning vistas of Bitou Cape, Sandiao Cape, and Aodi Bay.
What to explore at Longdong Bay?
Long Cave (Longdong) South Ocean Park is 16 hectares in area, with Long Cave (Longdong) Cape in the north and Yacht Port in the south. It is the first outdoor natural educational center which combines a yacht harbor, seawater swimming pool and marine exhibition rooms. Tourists can enjoy sailing and swimming and absorb oceanic knowledge here. Long Cave (Longdong) (Dragon Cave) got its name due to the dragon-shaped rock caves stretching in this area. The management bureau has set up a tourist service center and an exhibition room here. The coasts are open year-round.
The ocean park at Long Cave (Longdong) Park's south entrance is an outdoor education center that combines seashore fun with learning about the marine ecology. It is an ideal spot for swimming, snorkeling, and observing the marvels of the undersea world.
