Khoo Kongsi is the clan house of original Khoo families who were traders out of China. The complex is beautifully and lovingly maintained by the descendants. It chronicles the travels, travails and acheivements of the clan. The diaspora is far reaching and touches many parts of the globe, not only of Penang. The stories are succinctly related. One is able to follow the flow of the development of the clan and its successes in establishing almost a silently wealthy dynasty through trading around the world and the local tin mining industry. The tradition lives on in a special room that honours current members of the Khoo clan displaying credentials earned through various academic and other sources. I congratulate the descendants of this clan who have protected and improved this site as a testament and living memorial to their family achievements.

Exquisitely carved details and ornaments, making this temple one of the most beautiful we have seen in Georgetown. Well worth the entry fee!

The attention to the details by the people who were designing and building this clan house over the years is really worth admiring. The carvings, the great interiors and even fascinating decor on the roofs - worth a longer look. The wax figures in kind of "scene from the past" looks bit surreal - I see the point but the effect is definetely not good in my opinion. Anyway, I would strongly recommend a visit to Khoo Kongsi.

The Clan Temple has everything to offer the tourist, well maintained and information signage about the history of this "Khoo Clan" is clear and factual. The architectural beauty of the building is unique, the details of the finish is inspiring
