  • Sightseeing of Kyoto is conducted entirely by bus.

Nijo Castle  (50 min)

  • A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tour the historical castle completed in 1626, which was built to provide lodging for Tokugawa Shogun and as a palladium for Kyoto Imperial Palace.
  • [Remarks] Nijo Castle is closed on Tuesdays (or Wednesday if Tuesday is a national holiday) in January, July, August, and December and over the New Year's holidays. On these days, the tour will visit Ryoan-ji Temple instead.

Kinkaku-ji Temple  (45 min)

  • Visit this World Heritage Site, also known as the Golden Pavilion. The wooden architecture is covered in thin layers of pure gold and is surrounded by a beautiful lake.

Kyoto Imperial Palace (except Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and specific days)  (40 min)

  • Entry of international visitors generally requires application in advance, but participants of this tour can enter only by going through a brief procedure.
  • [Remarks] On Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays, Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed. On these days, the tour will visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine instead. The same is true of the period before and after the public viewing of Kyoto Imperial Palace in spring and autumn, May 14 - 17 due to the Aoi Festival, New Year's holidays, and whenever there is an Imperial Household event.

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine (Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and specific days)  (40 min)

  • Kitano Tenmangu Shrine is the substitute for Kyoto Imperial Palace on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. This shrine's main hall is a designated national treasure and is famous for housing the God of scholarship. The shrine is especially great to see during the plum blossom and autumn leaf seasons.
  • [Remarks] On Jan. 25, Apr. 25, Jul. 25 & Oct. 25 in 2015, and Jun. 25, Sep. 25 & Dec. 25 in 2016, Nishi Hongan-ji Temple will be visited instead of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.

Kyoto Station

  • Head to Kyoto Station via bus and walking
  • Depart JR Kyoto Station and go to Osaka Station  
  • JR Special Rapid Service or Rapid Service (non-reserved seat).

Addtional information

1. On Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays, Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed. On these days, the tour will visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. The same is true of the period before and after the public viewing of Kyoto Imperial Palace in spring and autumn, May 14 - 17 due to the Aoi Festival, New Year's holidays, and whenever there is an Imperial Household event.

2. On Jan. 25, Apr. 25, Jul. 25 & Oct. 25 in 2015, and Jun. 25, Sep. 25 & Dec. 25 in 2016, Nishi Hongan-ji Temple will be visited instead of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.

3. On Tuesdays (or Wednesday if Tuesday is a national holiday) in January, July, August, and December and over the year-end New Year's holidays, Nijo Castle is closed. The tour will visit Ryoan-ji Temple instead.

4. Please note that before entering the Kyoto Imperial Palace you will be required to fill out a form with your personal information such as your full name, sex, age, and nationality. (The form will be provided on the tour day.)

5. After the sightseeing, the bus will stop by the lunch venue for the 1-day tour and take you to Osaka.

6. Depending on the number of participants, the tour will use JR train or a bus for transportation between Osaka and Kyoto. If using JR train seating will be non-reserved, so please note that seating is not guaranteed.

7. Groups of 5 or more comprised only of Japanese customers cannot enter the Kyoto Imperial Palace. If your group is applicable, please inform us at the time of booking.
