Why Kunming Islamic Restaurant is special ?
The restaurant gets really packed on some nights and you can't get a table. It's an interesting crowd
Yacoob (the owner of the restaurant) is a wonderfully friendly and hospitable man, and is comfortable speaking Chinese or English. He is ethnically Chinese, but was born in Burma.
The menu is fairly large, but you'll be well served by ordering a selection of curries, bread, and salads. Yacoob is happy to help guide you through the menu.

Tips for you
Tasty & authentic! Briyani, spicy fried fish, coconut chicken recommended with chapati. Mid priced. Pleasant decor, tables decorated w currency notes
“Amazing food, and even more Amazing service!” I visited Kunming Islamic food. Unfortunately I was only carrying GBP currency. I told the owner that my ATM is not working and that I have GBP. He nodded and asked me to sit down. After I had my delicious meal, he mentioned that the food is free because he doesn't accept GBPs. I was literally amazed by the suggestion (I did come back next day with some TWD ;) ). As you enter the restaurant, you will see the dinning tables with a glass top, and underneath you will find almost all the currencies from the world, with hand-written notes suggesting how amazing an experience this was for those people. You should definitely try this food and visit the place.
