Reviews
Located at the food section of Central World - a 5-10 minute walk from BTS Chit Lom or Siam, it is on the 7th floor. It is well air conditioned and has a nice ambience which makes it stand out than your average thai restaurant. It also has credit card facilities available. The menu they have is extensive, pretty much anything and everything although they have a large range of papaya salad and soups, as well as larb salads and northern thai cuisine. We ordered 2 drinks - lemongrass and chrysthanum water. We ordered char grilled chicken with fried sticky rice balls, grilled beef salad, tom yum soup with seafood and papaya salad with peanuts and dried shrimp. The chicken was average and not of any special significance - i found the char grilled chicken on the streets of better flavour (sad but true!) - i mean, it is ok but nothing special. Same with the papaya salad - i had read a review that their papaya salad was better than som tam nua - i dispute that - i found this papaya salad to be lacking spices and was a tad plain for my liking. The beef salad was a winner and as good as you will get anywhere - it had a beautiful dressing and was well seasoned. The tom yum soup was also exceptional - it was well spiced and rich in flavour, it also had good volume of ingredients - it is almost as good as the 5 star hotel's tom yum goong. Overall, it was a good dining experience, i would not say exceptional as there were some noticeable let downs, and for the cost of this dining experience - i would have expected complimentary wi fi and an exceptional papaya salad.
This is my favorite place. Really tasty Som Tam, grilled beef salad, cha dam yen, nam tok nua, and many other dishes. Feels very natural and traditional, even in the modern place like Central Workd.
