Why Kishamichi Promenade is special ?

The Kishamichi Promenade is a promenade made by overhauling a dead track used by the former Japan National Railways that opened in 1911. It consists of three bridges connecting the Nihonmaru Memorial Park to the Shinko area. Skyscrapers of the Minatomirai area can be viewed from this 500-meter long boardwalk. Rubblework constructed at the time of the opening of the railways, a US-made railroad bridge and other historical structures are left in their original places. The Unga Park located at the end of Kisha Michi in the Shinko area has a plaza facing the promenade.

What to explore at Kishamichi Promenade?

Kishamichi is a promenade that is located in the Minato Mirai 21 seaside park area. One end of Kishamichi Promenade starts next to the Nippon Maru Memorial Park. The promenade travels along abandoned rail tracks and crosses an old truss-style railroad bridge. The walkway is well lit and connects with Unga Park, a base for waterfront recreation. Inside Unga Park is the Train Road that leads to the old terminal island. In the past this man-made island served as an important warehouse and shipping area. The island's role in the history of Yokohama harbor is being commemorated by Aka-Renga Park. Other attractions on the island include the Hotel Navios Yokohama, Yokohama World Porters commercial complex, and the Yokohama Cosmo World.

How to get to Kishamichi Promenade?

By bus

Akai Kutsu Bus is a sight seeing bus around Minatomirai, Chinatown and Motomachi. It runs every 20-30 minutes and looks like an old red bus. A ticket costs ¥100, and a 1 day pass costs ¥500

By boat

A "sea bus" [5] operates between JR Yokohama station (east exit), Minato Mirai and Yamashita Park, and is one of the nicest ways to get around on a sunny day. The fare is ¥340-700 depending on the distance.

I walked here from SAKURAGI-CHO station to Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse today. I was able to take a good photo of Queen's square & Yokohama bay hotel.
