What to explore at Kebun Raya Bogor?
Inside you can find a very cozy atmosphere surrounded by trees and plants, yet it not look spooky. There are also mini garden inside the park, such orchid garden, Mexican theme garden and so on. The park is splitted by Ciliwung river, so you can also see a red hanging bridge, a perfect spot to take a selfie or two. You can also see the Presidential Palace which is located in the same area, too bad it is not open for public, but again you can use the background for photograph.
You could also rent a bicycle to ride around, as the place is pretty huge. Went there with a group of friends and their family, having potluck picnic in the garden is so fun. Kids can play around.

Bogor is easily reachable from Jakarta by bus, car, train or even taxi. There are numerous busses and trains on this route departing at different parts in Jakarta. It is best to inform locally what the best way is. The Botanical Gardens are just a short walk away from the Bogor train station.

Tips for you
Poorly manage.path info inside is not helping. Toilet cost 2000 only for peeing, and bad one. I couldn't find rafflesia Arnoldi location.
When you're around Jabodetabek, feeling stressed and in need of some fresh air, just go to this beautiful garden. I've been coming here many many times but never once covered the whole ground because it's huge and I had many opportunities to stop everywhere (lol) looking and admiring various unique plants. This place is really good for de-stressing, for having a picnic, for chasing & running & laughing around with your kids, for doing some jogging/running, for photo shoot, for throwing a party/entertaining guests, for reunion, for seeing rafflesia arnoldi blooming (if you're lucky), for seeing blue whales skeleton, for gaining a wealth of knowledge, and for many other healthy, fun & engaging activities. The plants and animals at the garden, the ponds, the greenhouses & the (old skool) zoological museum will tickle your mind, senses and curiosity while the fresh air cleans your polluted lungs. Indeed, this is an old (I'd say historic) establishment and like any other human creations this garden is not without a flaw, but there are still more of the positive than the negative that we can gain here, IMHO. Go and experience it yourself!
