Why Kathu Waterfall in Phuket is special ?

The Kathu Waterfall is flowing down on the side of Kao Kamala (Kamala mountain) in the rainy forest. The area was upgraded in a way to offer some facilities to go up to the mountain with a staircase of a level about 130 meters During the rainy season (from July to December), the waterfall is more active. During the high season, there's less of water flowing down, but the coolness of the place is still to be enjoyed. Already on the first level you can be sitting in the shadow and have a view over the waterfall. At the second level, some stairs up, you can find nice places adjusted with tables and benches beside the river. On the mountain there are little paths everywhere and it's a pleasant and not too risky way to discover the rainy forest, a beautiful and preserved area.

What to explore at Kathu Waterfall in Phuket?

the visitors coming there can:

+ If you want to get to the very top of Kathu Waterfall expect a hard climb. Luckily, most of the way up comprises stairs and is shaded so you can stop and take rests at will. Right at the top there’s a pool in which you can take a dip and there are ‘drop pools’ stationed along the way up to cool off in.

+At the bottom there are plenty of places to snack and buy water – essential if you’re planning to make it to the top. The beauty of it all is that Kathu Waterfall is as hard or as easy as you want it to be: If you’re with little ones then take it easy and go halfway up to the drop pool for a dip or if you like a challenge go the whole hog. But just remember to take drinking water. Nearby attractions are Palazzo – a dinner show – and Flying Hanuman – where you can zip through the jungle imitating a flying fox.

It's not a waterfall. This is not where you go to admire falling water, but it is an extraordinary place. Take an ice chest, your friends, family and loved ones on a hot day to chill in creek as water flows about you. There are a lot of places to set up your picnic area and backwaters to light up your dubie. It's far from exciting like waterfall entails, but it's seriously a perfect place to relax and mingle: NO ENTRY FEE
