Why KameidoTenjin Shrine is special ?
Tokyo's Kameido Tenjin Shrine is perhaps most well-known for two things: its famous arched "drum bridge" and the purple wisteria(Fuji Flower). It is known as the best place in Tokyo to view wisterias. Beneath the wisteria trellises is a quiet pond, creating the unique scenery of purple flowers reflected on the surface of the water.
What to explore at KameidoTenjin Shrine?
At first glance though, the grounds appear to be quite large with all the wisteria up on the trellises, the bridges, the torii and the shrine but in reality they are quite small. Kameido Tenjin has a very interesting layout that really enhances the viewing experience due to the bridges crisscrossing the pond and the wisteria on the perimeter. And the pond is filled with turtles, carp and heron. The steeply arched drum bridges are very cool as they have that distinctive shape and, due to their height are the best places to get some shots of the wisteria over the ponds. People just flock to them. Plus with Tokyo Skytree so close you can get the added bonus of having Tokyo`s newest and tallest icon in those shots too. Take a look at the pictures in the gallery and you`ll get the idea very quickly. The wisteria festival is a good event. It was an immensely enjoyable event as the weather was close to perfect.
