Why Jala Restaurant is special ?

Keeping closely to The Andaman’s mission to preserve Mother Nature, the design and architecture of Jala revolves around the environment. The environment takes centre-stage here. Walking and dining barefooted gives you a sense of what vernacular-living is all about. The architecture is designed around 3 giant Meranti trees – the tallest trees in the rainforest. On one end of the restaurant is a showpiece table … a giant Meranti tree had fallen at the resort during a storm last year and it has been converted into a beautiful bespoke dining table that can seat up to 20 guests.

Some must-try dishes:

Mud Crabmeat on Squid Ink Pasta with tomatoes

Iced asparagus with water spinach

Garoupa in Hoi Sin Sauce

The Jala is an amazing seafood restaurant situated on the edge of the beach. This is one of the four restaurants of the Andaman Hotel. Jala is the primer of the four. As you arrive, the waiter takes your flip flops because the flooring is all sand. They have recreated the beach in the restaurant. Brilliant. The setting is super and if you are lucky enough to have a 'window' table you can watch the sun set. Very romantic. The menu is predominately fish and seafood but there are a couple of meat dishes on there too. A great wine list also accompanies the menu. You can go off menu if you want to and go to the counter to choose your fish and shellfish for the chef to cook for you. The food is quite simply delicious. Beautifully presented, and the service was fantastic.
