Why Islamic Restaurant is special ?

Islamic Restaurant serves up one of the best Nasi Biryanis around Singapore. And streams of people keep going in to order takeaway, not one or two packets, but boxes of it. An excellent environment that compels one to be at ease and enjoy the food in the moments of memories.

Regulars swear by the Mutton Briyani which is so tender it melts in your mouth, but chicken, fish and vegetarian versions are also available. If you feel the need to try something other than their signature dish they serve Murtabak, Nasi goreng and Indian-style Curries. This is one of few Kampong Glam restaurants with style and substance and the dining room is decorated with black and white photos and antique furniture.

HORRIBLE SERVICE. Do NOT eat here if you want to have good service. The boss was nonchalant about our presence and curtly told us my family couldn't sit together even though the restaurant was EMPTY.

I used to eat here regularly with my parents in the mid-1960s. My father kept a copy of the menu when we left Singapore and, over the years, we often used to mention, 'The Islamic', and their wonderful curries. I was surprised to find the restaurant is still there - now run by the third generation of the same family!I took my partner for a meal on the day we left Singapore. Although late afternoon, the place was crowded which I think is testament to the food they serve. We were seated promptly, our orders taken and the food arrived. I love Indian food and cook a lot of it. I can honestly say the Mutton Biryani was the best I have ever tasted. A couple of main dishes, a naan and two soft drinks came to $26 - great value.I introduced myself to the owners and showed them their old menu. They were delightful and allowed me to take some photos to show my father.A lovely experience and I will definitely return.

I came to know of this restaurant only in the last one year as we are not a great fan for this kind of cuisine. But nevertheless, we enjoyed coming to this restaurant each time. Maybe, because we arrived at off peak hours, so the food and service was good. There was one time however, I brought a colleague to eat, and she had an "extra" ingredient - rubber band. So they changed it for her at no extra charge. But I am embrassed.

We tried lamb biryani and it was very nice. We had to order raita and pappad separately as it doesn't not come with the biryani.
