This department store, spread out over eight buildings in Shinjuku, stocks a great selection of international products (French macarons; German cakes) in its basement food hall.

Gaijin tip. Go to first floor to the food department. 100% awesomeness. Makes Harrods in London look like chumps.

This is the flagship and largest Isetan Department sore. I will not take time to mention that there is a plethora of products sold in this strore. Many departments selling a vast assortment of items. If you need a large selection when you buy something this is the place. What I really want to mention though, is the basement food hall. This is the greatest array of quality products that I have ever seen. A+ to the merchandising and marketing teams. Everything is displayed in the utmost of care and in placement and totally clean. I did not see a piece of paper out of place. The fresh fruits, produce, meats, fish and groceries were outstanding, including many international products. The delectable desserts were the most tempting. Who could go home without buying something. Candies, Japanese desserts, Gelato, Italian and French pastries, you can go on and on, rows upon rows of the most exquisite food ever. A must see, even if you do not buy anything,

So much to see and do. The basement with all the great food options is. It shabby at all. Souvenirs are. Rey inexpensive here if you want to get more than t shirts and key chains. Service is impeccable. They know how to do retail and they get it right.

If a man can't find anything he needs in the isetan men's building, it probably doesn't exist. From contemporary clothing, streetwear to man bags - Isetan would probably put some of the biggest department stores in the west to shame. All the famous European labels are represented including niche western and japanese brands can be found there. The food market in the basement is another attraction in itself. There are glass showcases of what appears to be mouth watering wagashi (japanese sweets and confectionary) lovingly displayed or packaged. Although costly, do try some of them especially the red bean rice cakes.
