Why Ibrahim Nasir International Airport is special ?
Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, also known as Malé International Airport, previously known as Hulhulé Airport, is the main international airport in the Maldives. It is located on Hulhulé Island in the North Malé Atoll, nearby the capital island Malé. Today, the airport is well connected with major airports around the world, mostly serving as the main gateway into the Maldives for tourists.
Ibrahim Nasir International Airport is managed financially and administratively by an independent corporate entity known as Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). Over the years many improvements has taken place with the infrastructure and technological advances such as building a dedicated departure terminal with its prier adjoining later and establishment of a state of the Air traffic control Tower under the fourth Phase. INIA has seen great new improvements establishing itself alongside other international Airports.
What to explore at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport?
After the initial wow factor and the short walk to the airport building you will need to go through the standard airport procedures. Upon clearing the immigration formalities and claiming your luggage, you will enter the Arrivals Hall; this is where the resorts and tour operators have their counters or representatives.
If you’ve booked directly with the hotel, present yourself at the respective resort counter or tour operator representative if you’re on a package holiday. Consult your travel documents if unsure which tour operator your travel agency has made the reservation with.
The helpful airport representatives will then point you in the direction of, or take you to, the TMA check-in counter. After checking in and dropping off your baggage you will be transferred, by an air-conditioned minibus, to the TMA terminal.
TMA operates seaplane flights from its own terminal next to the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport.
