What to explore at Honda Bay?

Honda Bay is a popular location for snorkeling and island hopping. Showcasing the rich marine beauty of Puerto Princesa, Honda Bay offers an abundance of sea creatures and coral reefs. Each island at Honda Bay offers different thrills but Luli Island, Starfish Island, Panden Island and Cowrie Island are all great for swimming and snorkeling. Dive sites abound here, as the entire area is studded with patches of coral and sand. Submerged reefs may be found close to the surface down to 24 meters. Small reef and aquarium fish can also be found here.

Starfish Island has the greatest population of Star Fish (Sea Stars) in all of Palawan, as evident in its name.

Luli Island is actually a short term for "Lulubog - Lilitaw", which means Sink & Rise, which is what the Island does; at high tide the island disappears and at low tide, it reappears.

Cowrie Island is named after the small-to-large sea snail, marine gastropod mollusc called "cowrie." The island has a number of cabanas, a pavillion and thatched-roof spa huts, all over looking the sea and creating a beautiful, picturesque scene.

Pandan Island, is a private island with just one small resort. The island has the finest, whitest sands of all the islands and a lush tropical forest. This oval shaped island offers stunning views of the Honda Bay.

From Puerto Princesa we took a tricycle for 100 php. It took us 20 - 25 minutes to get there. I think it is not worth to rent a mask for snorkeling for 150 php on your way. It is too expensive. And special shoes (for snorkeling) are not necessary. In some places we just used our flip flops. :) At the Honda Bay you can get a private boat for 1300 php (for up to 6 person). You can choose 3 islands you want to visit, but the boat crew showed us 1 extra island. There are antrance fees if you get out from the boat in each island (check my pictures, there are all prices).COWRIE - nice, clean. There is a restaurant.LULI ISLAND - interesting. You can feed fish and snorkel. There is a restaurant.STAR FISH island - not so interesting, because many broken corals (you need shoes), many "kitch" items: Michaels Jordan's figure and other famous people (maybe for kids it is interesting, but I am looking for authentic and exotic things, not for "stars"). The only nice thing - big star fish :)PANDAN island - nice, big, but crowded. There are few restaurants: you can choose fresh fish, shrimps, and they cook them for you. But... dogs running, chicken and etc. I prefer silent and calm islands better. So, fees for two people for 4 islands total 10 euro.It is nice to have a private boat, beacause you can choose, how much time you want to spend on each island. What you need? Sun lotion, towel, snorkeling mask (not necesarry, you can just swim and enjoy, but of course bring one, if you like snorkeling), bottle of water and some money for lunch and tips.So do it yourself :)

let me make one thing clear: honda bay was a visual delight with its clear waters and fine sand. for our island-hopping tour, our guide took us to luli, pandan and cowrie islands where we went snorkeling.if you haven't gone snorkeling at balicasag in bohol province, then you would probably be impressed by the corals and fish at the three islands. (the fish were more plentiful and colorful at pandan island). the problem is that i have and i was a little disappointed. the coral at these three islands were dead, having been affected by cyanide fishing. there were just a few varieties of fish species, too.but don't let my experience discourage you from going to honda bay. it is still worth your time and money to book a trip to this attraction. just manage your expectations though especially if you have been to other great snorkeling spots.

Not really impressed with the Honda Bay Island hopping tour. We visited three islands namely Starfish - where our guide cooked and prepared our lunch, Luli island where they have a diving board, vendors sell native delicacies and massages were also done on the beach. Last stop was Cowrie island which I guess is too crowded with people and highly urbanized with a coffee shop and free Wi-Fi. Not my idea of how an island should be. Go island hopping in Bohol it's way better.
