Why Hoa Tuc Restaurant is special ?

The beauty of Hoa Tuc - which translates as Opium Poppy - is both in its concept and its execution. Contemporary Vietnamese cuisine is offered in a beautiful, unusual setting that takes its inspiration from Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and the site's original purpose as Saigon's legal opium manufacture of yesteryear.

This restaurant was born from the owners' desire to explore new avenues in Vietnamese cooking. Although now world-renowned, food in Vietnam has been stuck in a time-warp with Vietnamese chefs hardly ever deviating from the tried-and-true.

Hoa Tuc's Chef, eager to break the mould, spent a year testing new recipes, assembling Vietnamese ingredients in a fresh new way, and in August 2008, Saigon had its first Contemporary Vietnamese Cuisine restaurant. The wine list, concocted by a renowned sommelier, is the first of its kind in Vietnam and great care was taken to select each and every wine for its ability to work well with the bright, vibrant flavours of Vietnamese cuisine.

Signature dishes include:

Mustard leaves rolled with crispy vegetables and shrimp

Spicy beef salad with kumquat

Baby white eggplant and lemongrass

Good customer service. Waiters are very friendly. There are some unique vietnamese dishes. Do not get the soft shell crab. It was too much batter, I felt like eating fried dough.
