Why Han Market is special ?

From a small trading place born during the French domination, Han market has gradually developed into a big one thanks to being situated on the convenient road and sea traffic. Named after the Han River, the market came into operation in the 1940s and was rebuilt in 1989 with a completely new look. The beautiful two-floored design and tidy arrangement of commodities help people feel comfortable when going to the market. Han market is famous for various goods including fabric, clothes, footwear, fresh fruits and flowers, especially special fish sauce typical for local people’s dishes. The market is not only known for an abundance of commodities but the reasonable prices of items also. It is truly a good place for shopping among more than 50 markets in Da Nang City.

Tips for you

  • Snack shops- some of them can speak Cantonese, you can taste before buy, always make 30% discount with their offer
    Shopping
  • This isn't the place to go if your'e looking for souvenirs.
    Soveunir
  • Han Market food court is a local institution, you are not going to get fresher or cheaper anywhere else.
    Food
  • You can get a better deal (around 5% difference) at the bargaining shop than the fix price shop. If you are tired from bargaining, go the shop near the stairs, they have price tag on the plastic bag.
    Bargaining
  • There is no display of names of stuffs or price. Most of them speak no English at all.
    Products
  • At some shops, you can use US dollars and Thai baht if you don't have enough Vietnam dong, but the exchange rate doesn't like official rates from bank.

Be prepared to bargain! Start @ half price at least. For best results, go with a local friend who knows some of the shop owners—you'll save a lot of hassle.

This market is nearby Han river. its very organized and clean. Ground floor sells meat, vegetable. fruits, dried food stuff and local food stall are on the same floor on another side. Many choices of local food with seating, very clean so worth a try. On the upper floor there are cloth staff & tailoring with a few other stuff. Do try their fruits, they are very nice but don't forget to bargain for the price.

This is a typical Vietnamese market unlike those found in Saigon. Lots of dried fish, meat and fabric stalls. Not much for tourists to buy but that's what makes it more authentic.

Was introduced to this place by the concierge therefore decided to go visit after having been to Big C supermarket. Things here are generally cheaper than the big c but only if you bargain. You can find all sorts -clothes, travel bags, daily necessities, food stalls, souvenir stores and more. I did eat in one of those food stalls with my friend it was alright until I saw a cockroach crawling on top of those dressings.... Not good!
