Why Gyoza Center is special ?
Gyoza Center is the nice restaurant with the fresh and warm atmosphere. It is not far from the Gora station. It is cute place with very friendly staffs. The store is filled with a multitude of decorative bits and pieces, including what looks like rope hanging from the ceiling. Inside, the restaurant has a quirky country charm, with knick knacks along the wall and dried fruits and flowers hanging from the rafters. Seating ranges from tables (both upstairs and downstairs) to a long bar, behind which you can watch the action in the kitchen.
The gyoza menu is extensive with an enormous variety to choose from (including a stamina gyoza)
Must try dish:
The fried chicken soft bone

Tips for you
Though we stayed at the Hyatt Hakone, we read some reviews on Tripadvisor about Gyoza Centre and decided to try it out. So we ate both nights at the Gyoza Centre, less than 10min from Gora station by foot, along the railway track (you can't go wrong since it's only one direction). Instead of getting the set meal (7 gyoza, rice and miso soup) went for 3 portions of gyoza in true gaijin style (loved the shrimp and crab, found the normal (pork) one a bit bland). The gyozas were divine, hot and crispy, the Kirin beer nice and cold and the lady who served us spoke a bit of English (she confirms your order which gives peace of mind that she understood) but with the menu having pictures, there was no need. You pay at the till when you leave. Service was quick, no fuss, no unwelcome interruptions asking you how good the food is, just my kind of restaurant. We were so impressed with the shrimp gyoza (9000JPY) that we braved a tai fun on one night and got almost drenched waiting for taxis, in spite of having the huge Hyatt umbrellas. We also ordered 2 shrimp gyoza portions to go, they were timed to perfection, just before we were ready to pay for our meal. We ate them the next day during our trip to Hakone Shrine, even cold they were awesome, still crispy and tasty. Give it a go, you won't regret it.
