Why Gunung Payung Beach is special ?
Pura Gunung Payung sits atop the bluff behind this isolated yet beautiful beach. When looking at the temple you’ll see a road running off to your right. This runs through a small grove to a parking area where a longish set of stairs takes you down the steep but grassy escarpment.
On the way down you can enjoy the view of the offshore break and the very clear waters. Again the weather wasn’t great for this visit, but it must be stunning in the sun.
As with the previous beach, Gunung Payung was deserted with good deep sand and a few rock overhangs that would have made for a good campsite through the day.
It was here that we spied the first sailing skiffs offshore that fishermen were using to skate along the surface, presumably to collect seaweed or go fishing. The roar of the violent surf on the reef was ever-present.

Finally we got experience to visit Gunung Payung Beach after two times rejection because of construction. The access to get the parking and the temple is look good, but the path that we have to get the beautiful beach need to have an extra energy. It was also sunny day and the weather was hot (its around at 3 PM). We tried to reach the down stairs and finally meet the beach with its blue sea water and white sandy beach. There is also some caves that you might see. If you go along straight to your right after the stairs, you will find the Pandawa Beach which is connected from Gunung Payung Beach. Visited January 2016
in fact I very often come to this beach to just exercise and unwind. But this photo is the first time I came to this beach. The my first impression is beautiful place (really) but I suggest to bring a drink or lunch while in the beach and dont spend a lot of your energy, because when we wanna back home u will need extra power to climb hundreds of stairs and of course very tiring. Besides the advice I immediately go home before dark because there is no lamp lights along the road n at least avoid the things we dont want to. And along the way, sometimes we will see a bunch of monkeys playinaround.
