Why Green Cabin is special ?
The highlight of Green Cabin is their vegetarian lunch buffet. The best meals are where you just have the curries available, which is what this buffet provides. It's Rs. 280 per head for a vegetarian selection. They offers red or white rice, purippu, mustard cucumber curry, pollos curry, beet root salad and ample pol sambol, pappadam, roasted chilis, etc. You can get chicken or fish curry separate, and they're good.
Must try dishes
Lamprais
Lamprais is the mixture of rice boiled in stock with a curry, blachan, aubergine curry and seeni sambol. After all, this compound will be wrapped in a banana leaf and baked in an oven.
The lunchtime vegetarian buffet (Rs 280) is excellent value – the mango curry, if it’s on, is very good.

Reviews
A lovely restaurant that is clearly popular. We got there for opening time and got a table. It is a pretty restaurant and although we weren't looking for a romantic meal, it was lovely to dine by candle light with the fountain at our side. There was a wide variety on the menu and the food was good. The restaurant is not in the centre but was close to our hotel. We had a lovely evening there.
Visited the restaurant section for dinner on a weekday. It opens at 6.30PM but by the time it was 8.00PM most of the tables were full. Frequented by both foreigners and locals. Food comes rather quickly to the table. The hoppers, string hoppers were really good and even the Pittu was okay. Curry portions are rather small but very tasty. The coconut sambol is slightly hot so if you don't like spicy food best avoid it. Service can improve though as they take quite some time to serve you specially if it is busy. All in all really good Sri Lankan meal for a reasonable price
If you are wanting local food and local prices, make this a stop in Colombo! The food is good and excellent value! Ask to go to the restaurant section as we entered through the local takeout area. We had lamprais which was great, but the buffet looked even better!! Visited August 2015
Awesome food. Practically everything is spot on. And super cheap. Great hoppers. Beef fried rice , mutton string hopper kitty and prawn curry are highly reccomeded . Stick to local dishes.
