What to explore at Gardens By The Bay?

1. The Flower Dome, with its iconic design, serves to replicate the cool-dry climate of Mediterranean regions like South Africa, California and parts of Spain and Italy. Home to a collection of plants from deserts all over the world, it showcases the adaptations of plants to arid environments.
2. The Cloud Forest, on the other hand, offers a totally different experience compared to the Flower Dome. Comprising of a 35m tall mountain complete with the tallest indoor waterfall covered in lush vegetation, it portrays plant life from about 2,000m above sea level at the top of the mountain to around 1,000m at the bottom of the ravine. And then there is the Supertree Grove. These uniquely designed vertical gardens of 25 to 50 metres tall have large canopies that provide shade in the day but come alive at night with a exhilarating display of light and sound. We have always been clamouring Daddy to bring us to see these Supertrees whenever we drive past them on the ECP, and we can't wait! Opening Hours: Bay South Garden is open from 5AM to2AM daily. Opening hours for the Cooled Conservatories and OCBC Skyway is from 9AM to 9PM daily. Admission Charges: Access to the outdoor gardens in Bay South is free. Admission to the Cooled Conservatories (Flower Dome & Cloud Forest) and the OCBC Skyway are chargeable. *An additional 10% discount on admission rates to the cooled conservatories applies for holders of PAssion Card, NTUC Plus! Card, SAFRA Card and Home Team NS Card.
Tips: If you have kids, don't forget to check out Children 's Garden and ring swim suit for kids.

How to get to Gardens By The Bay?

I. Walking:

From the Helix Bridge towards the Art Science Museum: Follow the footpath which leads under the ECP, that will bring you directly into Bay South Garden along the waterfront.

From Marina Bay Sands: Walk across the overhead bridge (Lions Bridge) located at Marina Bay Sands Hotel (open daily from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM), or take the underground linkway via Bayfront station (Exit B).

II. MRT: Via the Circle Line or Downtown Line:

1. Alight at Bayfront MRT Station (CE1/DT1)

2. Exit B and follow the underground linkway

3. Exit and cross the Dragonfly Bridge or Meadow Bridge into the Gardens by the Bay

4. Look for the entrance of the garden. Wait for the shuttle service. I think we paid around SGD $2 for the shuttle but you can always walk around the HUGE garden to get to the main ticketing hub but it is only advisable if you have time :)

III. Driving

If you’re driving, from ECP take exit 17 (towards Changi Airport) or 17A (towards City). Travel onto Marina Boulevard and turn left onto Marina Gardens Drive. There are 2 car parks available at the Gardens – a basement at the Visitor Centre and an outdoor one at The Meadows.

UPDATE: as of August 2014, FREE shuttle service is available. Click this link to know more about the pick-up points and schedule.

Tips for you

  • Food and drinks are prohibited in the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest.
  • The Gardens are a strictly smoke-free environment
  • Go early to avoid the crowds at the Cloud Forest. Do an evening visit to have the opportunity to make the most of the lights and ambience. The Sounds & Light display (Free of Charge) at the Supertree Grove , nightly 7.45pm-8.45pm is a plan to stay at least till 10pm. The Gardens opens early (5am) and closes 2am. But the OCBC Skyway, aircon conservatories Flower Dome & Cloud Forest closes 9pm. Ticketing closes at 830pm.
  • Avoid visiting on Sunday because it is rather busy
  • Prepare a cardigan for children or anyone afraid of coolness.
  • Make sure to wear your most comfortable shoes because the place is huge
  • The entrance fee depends on which area you get in.
