Why Fukian Assembly Hall (Phuc Kien) is special ?

Fujian Assembly Hall was founded in 1690 and served the largest Chinese ethnic group in Hoi An (the Fujian). It contains the Jinshang golden mountain temple and is dedicated to Thien Hau, the goddess of the sea and protector of the sailors. The pagoda is also a place of gathering for the natives of Phuoc Kien. You must visit this assembly hall to discover an excellent work of architecture, also considered a heritage of historical significance.

What to explore at Fukian Assembly Hall (Phuc Kien)?

The main hall is the biggest room, where lies a shrine and many delicate-carved dragons. Behind the central altar are the God of Properity and the figures of the goddess of fertility, three fairies and twelve midwives (who are said to teach newborns such skills as sucking, smiling, etc.). Hence, childless couples often visit this temple to pray for children.

The very ornate temple was very busy but walk behind the temple and there is a wonderful garden with streams and an enormous mural worth seeing. To sit in the quietness in the middle of a busy city was wonderful, we were the only two people wandering around, great.

Best temple in Hoi An. A temple for a group of traders who made this place of worship to pray for the safe voyage of their ships. You can feel by the design and sculptures the risk and danger of these people's trade and also their obvious success. Fascinating

This was the most intricate of the clan homes and halls in Hoi An. Of particular note were the intricate painted carvings over the doors over the many entrances. The mosaic dragon was alos super cool. This place is the most photographed in Hoi Ann for a reason. It is beautiful!
