Why Forty-four South Village is special ?
Four-four South Village is also known as Xinyi Public Assembly Hall is located in Xinyi District, Taipei Songqin Street. It was built in 1948 and is believe to be first military family dependents’ village in Taiwan. Due to the land development policies and military community economic development and reconstruction of the Xinyi district, residents have gradually moved out of it.
In March 2001, four-four Village has preserved as historical buildings. The remain four buildings have become Xinyi Public Assembly Hall and Cultural Park, to allow city folks to have an opportunity to experience simple style military community.
There is a museum with exhibits giving you an idea of their lifestyle and facilities then.
