Why Fong Da Coffee is special ?
Fong Da Coffee (蜂大咖啡) was established in 1956, Fong Da Coffee is on of the most famous coffee places in Ximending and has an amazing assortment of beans and brewing devices. This is the shop that introduced iced drip coffee to Taiwan. It's also a great place to buy whole beans or coffee-brewing devices such as syphons or Italian stovetop espresso makers.VwN
They offer the options of both syphon or espresso and offered me the choice of single origin or a selection of various regional sources. This place is an altar to caffeine - from the coffee served right through to the retail aspec. This isn't necessarily a trendy cafe. At Fong Da Coffee they're focused more on what they're serving than the image they're promoting. Obviously, they also serve tea for the non-coffee drinkers.

“Great coffee and cakes!” Fong Da is an old time, authentic coffee house located near Ximen Metro Station exit 1. The min you step into the coffee house, you can smell the great coffee aroma because they roast their own coffee beans and brew the coffee themselves. Limited seats available but we managed to get a seat. Service was quite prompt. The service staff immediately showed us to our seats and gave us the menu. Although Fong Da is popular with the ice coffee range, we ordered a hot vanilla latte, fong da signature coffee and some cakes. The vanilla latte was great! Very smooth and soothing. Great coffee art too! The cakes tasted yummy as well. Great for a leisure afternoon getaway. Will visit again on my next trip to taipei.
I am a major coffee snob and not embarrassed to admit it. Fong Da had some exceptional blends as well as the straight stuff from all over the world - from Blue Mountain to Sumatran - everything. You can purchase downstairs (ground or whole beans) and go on the main floor or upstairs and order your brew of choice. They have traditional Taiwanese pastries for sale which are placed in big, glass jars to tempt you. This place is a regular stop for me in Taipei. Love it. Well prepared, good sized cups. Only criticism: I wish they'd use milk and not those horrible little pre-packed milk things ... otherwise, top quality. My place to get a consistently good cup of Joe in Taipei.
