Why Delta is special ?

This place is a real find for those craving some Western comfort food. The extensive menu is varied and offers everything from pizza and lasagne to Thai noodles. The coffee is brilliant and the staff are very friendly.

Delta does a lot more than ‘Coffee’ suggests, including a hearty selection of Italian and Thai dishes. The lasagne, pastas and pizzas are recommended if you’ve been on a steady diet of sticky rice in the boonies. Owners Alan and Siriporn (he's Chinese, she's Thai) serve coffee from their plantation near Paksong.

Delta Coffee has their own plantation from which their coffee is sourced. They collect donations which go toward various philanthropic projects aimed at helping the local communities.

Situated a few hundred metres up the hill from the centre, but well worth a visit, with outside tables under a canopy, and indoor tables, all with fans, indoor seating with aircon when really hot or at busy periods. Now open again from 8am to 9pm, but closes on major Buddhist festival days. Ask for all 3 menus, there is a breakfast one, a predominantly western one, and a Lao/Thai one too. Cakes and cookies in a chilled display case are tempting, as are the selection of excellent coffees and fresh fruit juices. All food comes from the spotless kitchen or bakery at the rear, which can be viewed through large windows. The staff are very attentive and cheerful, some speak english and french, but you are given an order form, fill in the numbers of the dishes from the picture menus, things rarely go wrong. As all dishes are freshly made, there is a wait, but not usually very long. There is free wifi, packaged coffee and local teas plus tee-shirts and gifts are on sale, and excellent fresh fruit. At weekends, around 1pm, and again about 6pm, Day-tourist buses from Thailand often visit, and it can get very busy, or even close for a short time to deal with these pre-booked events, but the staff will still serve drinks and cakes etc, if you're prepared to wait a while for a meal. Thoroughly recommended for a visit. Visited August 2014
