Why Daan Forest Park is special ?

Daan Forest Park or Da'an Park is a public park located near the centre of the Da'an District of Taipei, Taiwan. The park occupies twenty-six hectares and is bordered on its North, South, East and West by Xinyi Road, Heping Road, Jianguo Road and Xinsheng Road, respectively. The park is used by residents of Taipei as a green activity space and for various outdoor activities. The park was created in 1994 after the eviction of longtime squatters and the demolition of illegal buildings on municipal land, not by mayor Chen Shui-bian, as is often cited, but by his predecessor, Huang Ta-chou.

Daan Forest Park was intended to play a similar role as other major city parks such as New York City's Central Park and London's Hyde Park, acting as the "lungs of Taipei city" and as respite for residents from the bustle of life in Taipei. Similar to the large parks of other cities, Daan Park is surrounded by high price luxury condominiums that fetch a premium due to their desirable views, some reaching the price of $400 million New Taiwan dollars (approximately $14 million US dollars) in 2012.

Taipei's central park, which is an oasis of serenity in Taipei. There are quite some beautiful birds in the ecological pond. You can also feed the squirrels in one of the trees surrounding the pond.

Daan Forest Park is a lush green space in the middle of Taipei City. The park sprawls over 250 square meters and has an MRT station located just beside it. We took the Taipei MRT red line to Daan Forest Park MRT station and left from there. The park is a dynamic space comprised of different landscapes and activity areas. There is a tree-house type of structure on stilts, where kids play. Though I've also seen couples making out here late at night. There is a playground, a basketball court and a man-made lake. This park is a favourite for picnickers on sunny days. There is also a running track encircling the park, so we saw a lot of joggers bouncy around the park. This is a really well-maintained beautiful space. The amphitheater in the middle of the park also hosts musical acts occasionally. Definitely worth visiting! I'd go again

Daan Forest Park reminds of Central Park in New York City. It is a great park in the middle of the city with easy access via the subway, bus or car (large underground parking lot). The park is home to lots of early morning activities ranging from singing, Tai-Chi, dancing, yoga, any and all kind of exercise for young and old. There are walking paths and running tracks, large playground, fish ponds, skating, and public concert area. When I visit Taipei, I actually stay quite close to Daan Park, so I walk to the park each morning for my daily exercise/walk. It is a really great place to go to even when visiting a busy city like Taipei.
