Why Chinzanso Garden is special ?
Chinzan-so Garden is a beautiful tradtional Japanese garden, in Bunkyo Ward Tokyo. Today Chinzan-so Garden is primarily the garden of a restaurant and conference center, which covers 6.6 hectares, includes many significant historic momuments which are spread throughout the garden. These include a one thousand year old pagoda from the Hiroshima mountains, a three story pagoda built by the monks from Chikurin-ji Temple without using a single nail, Shiratama Inari Shrine was transferred from the World Heritage Site of Shimogamo Shrine in Kyoto. The garden itself features a water fall, natural spring, large pond and 500 year old tree with a 4.5m circumference. What to explore at Chinzanso Garden?
Chinzanso Garden has to be the best garden for those that want to see cherry blossoms without spending any money. It’s near to Shinjuku, and is a very, very posh park open to average folks like me and you!
Today the gardens are the centre piece of the Four Seasons Hotel and the Chinzan-so Centre.
The Three Story Pagoda is the symbol of Chinzan-so and is believed to be 900-1000 years old. Not one single nail was used in building this pagoda, which originally stood in the grounds of the Chikurin-ji temple, deep in the mountains of the Hiroshima Prefecture.
Goshhinboku is the 500 year old sacred tree. The oldest tree in the gardens with trunk diameter of 4.5M and height of over 20M.
Shiratama Inari Shrine is dedicated to the fox. It was removed from the grounds of the Shimogamo Shrine in Kyoto and relocated to the gardens.

A must see garden! There is also a great Japanese barbecue restaurant within the garden. Saw an amazing bonsai-like but Gigantic tree within the garden---- the grounds is also part of a really nice hotel- the Four Seasons...... Only downside is, this place is not so easily accessible by train or subway.
