It's not easy for me to find a good place to eat in China, even if I master the chopstick technique ... My taste buds do like hot and spicy foods but I discovered that my stomach can't handle it as well in China. Hence Ive been losing close to some 30 pounds and the last 3 months which is good but also bad since I cant find satisfying foods.... Coming from Montreal where food tastes great, its one of the hardest things to cope with here; choosing from pictures is OK but you never sure what to expect (surprise surprise did I really ordered that? LOL) During my stays in Guangzhou I went to Chicken Express three times and its became one of my favorite places in the city. The location is great as they are many things happening around like shops bars pool lounges clubs so there is much to-do in the area. Just ask the owners they'll guide you to the best places. Food-wise is simply top quality, just good foods, the owner is definitely doing something right: Specially designed equipment to roast the chicken tender and juicy, just go see the show of the rack of 30 or so stacked up chickens turning slowly to a red roast. As the chicken roasts the juices fall onto the diced potatoes where they cook in a tasty broth and get all that wonderful flavory chicken taste, It is a "Chicken Lovers Celebration"...They also have regular fries, very crispy outside and tender inside, you know, the not to thin ones, yeah... the good ones. LOL Spices don't overwhelm and cover the taste of the chicken, so the feeling is more like good comfort food you feel light after eating half a chicken. Ok Im officially hungry now. They also collaborate in making their breads with two bakeries, guess the French side of the owner makes him take their bread seriously; and that good for us LOL The condiments are fresh and diverse, one of the freshest ketchup I had period. Doesn't have a stale tangy taste you get from McDonald's ketchup baggies. They even have hummus and garlic mayo, great Mediterranean touch, haven't tried their salads but they look so good, think they even serve tabbouleh on the menu. The owner speaks many languages, that's a bonus when you look for people that can understand you, plus many foreigners from different countries come there so its a friendly feeling atmosphere perfect to strike up a conversation. The owners are really passionate about what they do and they keep a watchful eye over each steps. They also talk about the obstacles China holds in its tricked decks of cards for these laoways that want to open a restaurants or business in China. The full experience in this restaurant is the steaming hot roasted chicken that just came out the oven. It's a must ... They have many accompanying dishes of yeah did I mention the have Hummus too. I also had the chicken sandwich with cheese inside and asked to change the sauce for extra Hummus, mmmhhh good till the last bite. Just ask them, they can change or add things as you prefer. Great place, great service, great price for quality food oh yeah, and clean, Heard they also have a bigger restaurant but I enjoy this one already because of the people I met there.
