Why Chaweng Beach is special ?
Six km of white sandy beach, tropical hotels, a hopping nightlife, numerous restaurants and shopping opportunities makes Chaweng the most popular beach on the island's east coast. It's is usually divided into four sections: North Chaweng, Central Chaweng, South Chaweng and Chaweng Noi (Little Chaweng) which is around a headland and at the southern most tip of Chaweng. Chaweng Beach is approximately 7 km long, making it the longest beach on the east coast. It is lined with coconut trees and boasts year long, warm (temperatures range between 25-28°C.) emerald-blue waters in the Gulf of Thailand.
Chaweng offers an incredibly broad range of accommodation, ranging in price from as little as 400 baht per night for basic fan rooms and shared facilities, premium resorts charging up to 20,000 baht per night and 5 star villas at 70,000 per night. The beach attracts a diverse range of travellers, from your young "hippie" backpackers, international school and university students, sporting teams, singles, couples, honeymooners, wedding party's and families.

Reviews
We love the beach here. It is clean, soft sand, warm azure water and in March, no crowds. We spent many happy hours swimming and playing in the water. There is a tide, but there is always plenty of water for swimming. There are places to eat, drink, rent seafood, banana boats, water taxis. We have seen no more than 5 sellers on the beach, each day. And they have not been bothersome at all. Same with the massage ladies. About 4-5 pm many local Thai people come to the beach with their children. They play in the water and collect tiny clams where the surf meets the sand. They are a delight to watch.
Great big waves and white sand, the best beach I've visited. Other parts of the beach less impressive.
Chaweng beach is the best beach in Koh Samui. It gets a little crowded by noon. But the southern end is still less crowded and you can pick you spot and relax. There are lots of hawkers who may disturb you, but they go away once you politely say a 'No'.There are many water sport activities on the beach. There are lots of restaurants, bars and shops selling souvenirs on the outskirts of the beach.
