Why Central Market (Phsar Thom Thmei) is special ?

The Central Market (Khmer: ផ្សារធំថ្មី, "Psah Thom Thmey", "New Grand Market"), is a large market constructed in 1937 in the shape of a dome with four arms branching out into vast hallways with countless stalls of goods. Initial design and layouts are from French architect Louis Chauchon. Construction works were supervised by French architects Jean Desbois and Wladimir Kandaouroff.

The famous market offers items such as gems, rubies, clothing, food, and much more. Other than the quality products offered at Siem Reap's most popular marketplace, Central Market is more spread out than most, making it seem less crowded and easier to navigate. The market is also an excellent place to pick up much needed, last minute items such as extra bags or suitcases, batteries, or books, for the long flight home.
