Going to see the falls itself necessitates a trek along a trail with scenic views of the surrounding area and from hills one can see neighboring islands across short distances of sea. One need also to cross the Can-umantad River, another location where one can witness nature's grandeur with its clear, cold spring water and lush greenery.

Tips for you

  • You should bring a sturdy rope on the trip and a sharp bolo will also come in handy in clearing up dense foliage that may bar your way.
    What to bring
  • You should carry Food & Drinking water. If you want to go swimming, you must bring extra shirt and slipper.
    What to bring
  • The most difficult part of the trail would be the river crossing (which one has to traverse for more than a hundred meters) where in some parts you have to wade through water, maneuver over moss-covered rocks and clamber up boulders.
  • You should note that the falls lies 10 kilometers from the town’s main road.
  • The trek is not advisable during the rainy season for the river will swell up and the current stronger, rendering wading impossible.
    What to know
  • Don’t forget to get a guide. Guides are useful, especially for foreigners, in order to facilitate communication with the locals.
    Things to do
  • For foreign visitors, better inform the local authorities that you are in the area in case of any untoward incidents, although the place is peaceful and the inhabitants friendly and accommodating.

The directions posted by a previous visitor are quite correct. Just keep asking as you go along and the locals will keep you on the right path. We ended up not taking the paved road down to the falls but saw a sign on the opposite side of the river and wandered through the rice terraces until we meet some local boys who offered to guide us. Ends up we took the shortcut which was a steep path down the mountain. Quite difficult to maneuver for us, though the boys had no trouble at all. All the efforts were so worth it....the falls are so beautiful, and the walk through the rice fields was beyond words. If you enjoy hiking adventures, don't miss out on this amazing trip!

Nature at its best! The trail going to the site is not for the faint-hearted. It's rough and at some point becomes steep. Adding to the struggle is the sun's heat. Truly for adventure junkies.
