Why Bukit Batok Town Park (Little Guilin) is special ?

Also known as Little Guilin or Xiao Guilin among the locals, Bukit Batok Town Park looks similar to that of Guilin in China - a granite rock sitting within a lake. Two dome shaped shelters give you a fantastic view of the tranquil lake. The towering rock cliffs make a majestic backdrop to the large lake. The park is beautifully landscaped so that you can walk along the banks of the lake. This park is popular with shutterbugs and wedding couples.

Xiao Guilin is wonderful for photographs, seeing that it looks more like a scene out of a Wu Xia Xiao Shuo (Chinese Martial Arts Classic). It really looks nothing like Singapore at all.

It must be noted that an overwhelming majority of people will find Xiao Guilin boring though, seeing that there really isn’t much to do apart from marveling at rocks and taking photos with the scenery. However, for those that will enjoy a relaxed afternoon, Xiao Guilin serves its purpose very well, free of snack vendors and boisterous children.

What to explore at Bukit Batok Town Park (Little Guilin)?

One would appreciate Xiao Guilin if you appreciated rocks, because they do have very pretty rocks. These rocks have all been through the weathering process, making it a geography teacher heaven. The place is incredibly tranquil, with it being difficult to spend your money there.

If you were preparing to spend a whole day in that area, there is really nothing much. Most people are just passers-by going to the stadium next to it, for evening-stollers who live very nearby. The only activity you could consider is fishing, but judging from the expressions of the fishermen there, don't expect a good catch.

This is a beautiful place especially if you come at the correct time of the day. It is small though and the fact that this is out of town makes it hard to recommend if you have a tight itinerary. It is best to combine this in the early morning with other nearby attractions like the zoo (it's not that near but it is just a few stations away). Plus it is open 24 hours so if you wake up too early and the other attractions are not open, you can go to this place.

certainly a very nice and scenic location, albeit in a rather small scale, with a lake and a rocky hillside in its background.Regrettably, there is nothing much to enjoy aside from a very short stroll along the lake - a nicely maintained track could allow a nice walk to the top and back (there used to be a trail but it has been fenced out - though the sign board on the road sign has not been updated), possibly joining this section to the Bt Batok park just behind.Considering there are so few of such picturesque natural places in Singapore, it is truly a wasted potential.

It's small, but you get a peaceful walk here. It's rare to have such a "mountain " view in the city area. Often unknown to tourists, this is actually worth exploring. Just taking pictures with the mountain as the background is worth a visit. It used to be a popular spot 20+ years ago for phototaking. Very quiet now as there are simply too many new attractions in singapore.Want something different? This is the place. Walking distance from bukit gombak mrt. You only need to spend about half an hour there.
