Reviews
We had lobsters three times we were here. lobsters cooked with garlic and chili, snapper or whole fish with Hong Kong style are must-eat dishes. waiters need more training to serve: young and awkward but overall its good place to eat seafood. i like to booth looking into the street intersection. i would recommend you come here for seafood experience.
Well, having lived in Viet Nam for over 12 years (now a visitor) and having reviewed so many restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City, both expensive and inexpensive, I have to say that this place tops my list. Hence the five stars. It's situated in District 10; so some distance from downtown Saigon. In terms of the ingredients, quality and quantity of the food served, it's probably less than half the price of better known restaurants and twice as good as most of them. From the outside it looks like an average Vietnamese seafood restaurant, but that's where the similarities end. We chose a table that was set up on the wide pavement in the open air. No sooner seated than we benefited from the exceptional service provided. Menus arrived immediately, the drinks order was taken and advice was given on the best fish or shellfish of the day - most alive and thriving in the restaurant's large fish tanks. We have eaten here three times. I thought that maybe we were just lucky with our first meal of a whole grilled cá chim trắng (silver pomfret) which was shown to us straight from the tank and cooked perfectly. It was so good in fact that the next time we went there we had the same fish, but steamed this time. Just as good. The last time we went we opted for a dish cá bớp (cobia fish) steaks, grilled with chili. Wonderful. We tried different green vegetables each time, which were again seasoned and cooked perfectly. We also had sò điệp (scallops) as a starter, cooked with garlic and a little spice. Small but again delicious. I have been wanting to give 5 stars to a restaurant in Vietnam for ages, but have never been able to do so, because there has always been something that has prevented the experience from being perfect. It is with a great deal of pleasure that my first 5 star choice goes to this popular Vietnamese restaurant that overflows on to the street. My Vietnamese friend and I were so impressed that we asked to see the manager, who arrived somewhat nervously expecting a complaint. She was very modest about the restaurant, describing it as providing simple Vietnamese seafood dishes, nothing more, nothing less. I am a little reluctant to advertise this place, as I fear that if it receives the number of foreign customers it deserves, it will change, along with the prices. That is the risk. Don't expect any waiters who speak fluent English. There may be none who speak any English at all, but the hugely varied menu is written in the two languages; so you should be OK. I just love this place.
Great fresh seafood at a busy open air restaurant. It is obviously popular with locals and I can see why. Although we were the only Caucasians there, the boss and staff were helpful with choosing dishes and how to accompany them. Seafood is the speciality but they have a full menu of other dishes for those who prefer. At $30 for 2 people for great food, beer and service you can't go wrong
My friends and I were in HCMC for 4 days and we ate dinner here twice. Why? Because you can get live jumbo prawns, grilled fresh crab, snails, lobster, oysters, etc for CHEAP. The menu has pictures and is in English. My friends and I got 1KG of the live jumbo prawns and had them cook it in coconut sauce. It was the best shrimp you will ever have. The meat is so tender and not a bit soft at all. The crabs are delicious too. We also went through a dozen Heineken bottles and paid less than $100 USD for 4 people.
