Why Bánh Xèo Mười Xiềm is special ?

Muoi Xiem is a very popular eating place in HCMC. Many people will prompt right to this name when referring to the pancakes! The author merely “flattering” a little for traditional dish here. Although the restaurant is very creative with the dish with Ganoderma, abalone mushroom, mushroom needle, .. the traditional dish of shrimp meat remains inherent flavor: Bui, fatty, salty, but with the big cake, shrimp meat, fresh raw vegetables. Many diners it enough to come back and shop. Among the Muoi Xiem address is 204 Nguyen Trai Street, Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1 is the address you should try.

We went there following recommendation from Vietnamese friends for best afternoon snacks. The place was easy to locate (5 minutes walk from Reunification Palace). From the outside, the joint looks like a bit rundown because their cooking kitchen located outside. Once we walked further into their shop, we were shown an aircondioned seating room away from the heat outside. The waitress does not speak much English but somehow she understand and point in the menu when we asked what is recommended. We ordered their tradisional Banh Xeo pancake(how to eat like local tips: tear pancakes into small pieces, wrapped it with salad, dip into sauce and chow away!) and Banh Tet (banana stick rice) and they were utterly delicious. Their serving portions were big enough for 2 person. This place is well known among the locals and it is a hidden gem for foodies like us. Must try!

We asked what foods we needed to try in Ho Chi Min and heard we needed to get Bahn Xeo pancakes. We asked around and were told to try this place. We had had some of the pancakes in Hanoi, but these where much better. Nest Bahn Xeo we have found. We got the Vit (Duck) special. It was delicious. Very cheap as well.

We went to one of their restaurants, I believe in district 3. It was a much, much smaller restaurant. The food was awesome! We were a party of 8 in total. We went with Vietnamese friends who suggested the place after I said I wanted to try some real deal banh xeo. I was blown away. I had the "traditional" pork and shrimp. Others in the group had theirs made with mushrooms and other ingredients. The pancake was perfectlly crisp, hot and delicious. I did eat it with lettuce but preferred it plain and unadorned. We also had a couple of other dishes that I can't remember being that we visited in January and I am now writing this review in April but they were tasty as well. I would definitely return to this location.
