Being raised on Mexican food in the US, I've become less than optimistic about it in SE Asia. I've found one good restaurant in Bangkok and now one in Vientiane. My test food is cheese enchiladas, as mundane as that sounds. These were different. Rather that a harder cheese like cheddar or monterrey jack, these used something like a chile con queso dip. However, the taste was excellent and the tortilla in the enchilada was just right. The salsas were homemade and the fiery salsa was very good. The also specialize in hamburgers and have a good assortment on the menu. I will have to try one the next time I'm there. The bad news is that the owner, who is very conscientious about her cooking (her husband is American and she goes to Colorado frequently), has got the restaurant on the market. She insists she will stay around to work with the new owner so that the tradition continues. I hope so.
The stuffed burgers here are so delicious, they do several options of fillings cooked inside the beef burger. It's very original for Vientiane and trust me, you will be back for more. The staff are so friendly and efficient. They also serve Lao dishes and Mexican food which are great.I find it strange that the previous reviewer rated this place so low, all of his reviews for Laos were submitted the same day and it is not a genuine review of the food or service. Could it be a worried competitor i wonder?
