Tips for you
Viewing the temple from a height is a must-do activity.Since the balloons are not running in July, we opted to visit the tower. Far more cost effective than the balloon ride at $5 per person, and a very good alternative! An elevator brings youngest of the way up. You climb the last few feet by stairway. The view is 360' and stretches to the Ayerawaddy river in the distance. Sunset up there was glorious. Wonderful photo opportunities!
Controversial builder (do some research) but alas it's a great way to see an elevated view of Bagan. Great place to go in the heat of the day since it's covered and very breezy up top.
This modern architecture competes with the centuries old structures and should never have been built.
We didn't know this even existed and soon realised it is a bit controversial...but seriously, it was wonderful! We were not able to do a balloon trip because they were not running in August, so for $5 we got the next best thing. As we got off the lift and realised how incredible the view was, our mouths dropped open. It is really fabulous. Don't mis it!
