Why Asiatique Night Market is special ?
Asiatique The Riverfront is the newest Bangkok Night Market, opened in May 2012. Ever since the closure of the Lumpini night market there have been different places that tried to “fill the gap” – and this finally is it.
Asiatique has successfully combined two of the most popular shopping experiences in the city: a night bazaar and a mall.
The new travel destination and lifestyle shopping venue that completes all needs for tourists and Bangkok people. It will be the largest riverfront themed retail and new lifestyle night shopping place in Asia, combined the elements of the Thai history and the modern lifestyle, under the concept of Festival Market and Living Museum.

What to explore at Asiatique Night Market?
From the boat you step off onto a long boardwalk which runs for 300 metres that looks romantic once the sun has set. Wide streets run between each warehouse and Asiatique provides retro props for photo opportunities: a reproduction tram car, anchors and a push cart. The decor does feel a little overdone on occasion and not quite in keeping with the designers’ plans to evoke nostalgia for the 1900s but it’s so well planned, clean and spacious that the lack of history doesn’t really matter.
Once you enter the hangars, you appreciate the design even more; this is probably the only market in Bangkok where you can find a stall by looking at a map. Asiatique is split into four categories to help you find what you are looking for without too much hassle.
The Charoenkrung District is where you will find the majority of the small boutiques selling souvenirs, handicrafts, jewellery, and clothing. The little storefronts are attractive, the displays are interesting and there is a wide range on offer too, from fashionable Thai brands to affordable stores selling merchandise similar to those on offer in places like Chatuchak and MBK.
The focus at Asiatique is more on cutting-edge fashion and gadgets in the Factory District, including an Apple store. Upscale dining selection can be found in the Waterfront District, with smart Italian, Thai and seafood restaurants. The Town Square district has bars and outdoor space for events. Some independent cafes are dotted around selling strong drinks and decently priced Thai food. Asiatique also has branches of KFC, Pizza Company, Au Bon Pain and MK. As well as all this food and shopping, the two biggest entertainment draws are the Thai puppets by Joe Louis Theatre and Calypso Cabaret, one of Bangkok’s celebrated ladyboy shows.

How to get to Asiatique Night Market?
To get to Asiatique, either take a taxi to Charoen Krun Soi 72, or take the Skytrain to Saphan Taksin and then hop on one of Asiatique’s free river ferry shuttles, which run from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. nightly. There are some shops and restaurants open during the day but this is mostly an evening destination.

Reviews
Nice and cooling place to walk around at night. Noted that prices of clothing are hiked up for about 50% to 75% at this market compared to Pratunam market
Loved the concept of the mall at the riverfront. Enjoy riding the shuttle boat. The line was really long when we reached at 7pm but all of us managed to get onto the boat. We waited about 15 minutes for the boat. Lots of shops to look and love the little bazaar along the way. It was crowded when we were there during weekdays. We took a cab back to our hotel in siam area. Lining up at the taxi line and was charged 20 bath for their service making sure that the taxis goes by meter. Unfortunately, just a few meters from the taxi booth, just afyer our family got into the cab, the driver said that he couldnt go by meter and charged us 300 baht as the traffic was heavy for weekdays. I said no to him to go just by meter, he insisted us to pay without the meter on. We negotiated til it dropped to 180 baht. I was with my husband and 3 boys in the cab and with the cranky boys, we just had to agree without using meter. I was really disappointed in that as we already paid 20 baht as what they promised us that we will pay by meter.
