Why Angkor Golf Resort is special ?

A winner of 6 major championships and 39 tournaments worldwide, the legendary Sir Nick Faldo is widely considered to be Europe’s greatest golfer. At Angkor Golf Resort he has triumphed yet again. A classic and contemporary course; Angkor Golf Resort is conveniently located within 10 minutes drive from Siem Reap town and 5 minutes from Siem Reap International Airport. It is the first of its kind in Cambodia offering unparalleled standard of golf course and golf facilities. Constructed on a former paddy field; the 18 Holes course is a challenging 7279 yards, par 72 that is built to challenge all levels of golfers and he has been rated by the US PGA. In 2008, Angkor Golf Resort was voted as top three new courses in Asia by Asian Golf Monthly.

What to explore at Angkor Golf Resort?

Tess, fairways, and greens are all maintained as what you would expect from a Faldo designed and IMG managed golf course. The latest Paspalum turf insures excellent year-round playing conditions.

The final 3 holes make up some of the most challenging, but fun, holes on the Angkor Resort golf course. The par-5 16th is a 588 monster that is probably not reachable in two shots except for very long hitters. The angle of the green together with the water on the left of the hole, poses a real challenge for those wishing to get their approach shots close. A cautious lay-up, away from the water, on the second shot will leave a very demanding pitch over a deep bunker to a shallow green. Hole 17 is the longest par 3 on the course and plays to a green guarded by water on the right side. The back pin locations, in particular, will demand a very well hit accurate tee shot.

The 440 yard par 4 finishing hole is as good as they come and will certainly lead to some dramatic finishes, a Faldo signature! The hole is a slight dogleg to the left. However, water runs down the left side affecting both the tee shot and the approach. The best tee shot must challenge the water on the left to open up the approach into the green.

Course has an excellent design, enough challenges to keep the best golfer entertained but still easy enough for your weekend warrior to enjoy. Staff were friendly, clubs were of a good standard, and the course very well maintained. Caddies were friendly and efficient! Start early as it gets very warm! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Only draw back was no shoes in my size (13) - (nothing new in this part of the world), and that would not have cured my fade anyway. Thanks guys. Marc

If you have time go to ply this golf course. Same price than Sofitel but much much better! Green are simply perfect, fairway perfectly maintained, beautiful environment... Caddies are really nice also and they know what they're talking about. Golf rental for 25$ you get a Taylor Made R11 set, when at the Sofitel you get an unknown terrible band for 65$! Only one point: better be straight or take a lo of balls with you as water is almost everywhere... But really a good golf course to play!

Played a round at Angkor Golf Resort in Mid March 2013 just prior to the rainy season. The golf cost $115 USD + caddie + powercart. The course was very quiet as I only saw one other group over the entire 18 holes. My caddie Aloe was great as she told me exactly where to hit and always knew the yardage.Next time I am in Siem Reap I will definitly play golf here again.
