Bãi Sao An Thới, Thị Trấn An Thới, Phú Quốc, Vietnam
Took ourselves to this place as the other places were not foreigner friendly. Boy was it a great choice. For roughly $40 us we had: 1kg of steamed crab, stirfried scallops, garlic fried rice ( huge serving), chilli bbq fish and some mixed veggies! The view was fantastic, the serving girls were cheeky and helpful and we felt part of their little family for a brief time. Forget the others and feel welcomed and definately sated!!!
Against our tour guide's preferences (and probably also his commission structure), we decided to dine at Ai Xiem because of a great review in Lonely Planet. It turned out to be a great decision! We arrived around 12:15pm and snagged one of the front tables facing the gorgeous white sand Sao Beach. Our toes were practically in the water! It doesn't get much better than that! Over the next 15-30 minutes, the restaurant really filled up, so if you want the front tables, I would suggest arriving around 12pm. We ordered a few dishes to share: satay squid, claypot fish, grilled shrimp, garlic rice and some beverages. By far the best dish was the claypot fish, although everything was great! The garlic rice was probably my second favorite. In total we spent ~$25 for the excellent meal for 2. Don't expect much in terms of service. We had to chase someone down to place our order, but it was well worth the effort!
